The Laborers apprenticeship program is an excellent way to learn the necessary skills to become a Construction Craft Laborer. This program combines On-The-Job training with related classroom instruction under the supervision of journey-level workers. You are able to earn as you learn. It is a highly effective way to enter the construction industry as a career pathway. This is a long-term commitment, between 4 – 5 years, allowing the apprentice to achieve Journey Worker status on the A-list at the Hiring Hall. We are a DRUG FREE PROGRAM! Mandatory Hair Follicle Drug testing is required. Hair follicle testing monitors past drug usage up to 6 months. Applicants must commit to being drug free for entire apprenticeship program.
You MUST be physically capable of performing the work of a construction craft laborer. All candidate will be subjected to a physical agility and/or fitness test.
This is a CAREER oriented program and can be completed in 4-5 years. The program requirements are a combination of On-the-Job learning and related classroom training.
Applications are accepted year round. New Apprentices can be called at any time of the year, depending on the construction workforce demands.
Construction Craft Laborers are trained in all major aspects of construction including Highway/Heavy, Civil, Building, Specialty and Oil and Gas.
The average starting wage is over $17/hour with a generous benefit package that includes Health Insurance, Dental, Pension, Training and Legal. Wages increase as one progresses through the program
Must be 18 years or older
Must have a High School or GED with transcripts
Must have a Valid Alaska Driver’s License with 3 year driving record
Must be an Alaskan Resident for 12 months with proof
Must be physically able to perform all duties of a Construction Craft Laborer
Must be able to get to & from work anywhere within the geographical area of this apprenticeship program
Must commit to all requirements of the apprenticeship program
