The Alaska Laborers Training School is the sponsor of this federally registered apprenticeship program through the US Department of Labor. These documents are needed for you to become a registered apprentice.
step 3 - physical assessment
Physical assessment is a crucial part of our process. Remember, construction workers work outside most of the time and no matter the field you’re in, you will be doing work that is physically demanding. Our physical assessment shows us that you are physically able to perform the duties of a Construction Craft Laborer in the field.
Physical Assessment IS A FULL DAY AT ONE OF OUR SCHOOLS AND IS SCHEDULED AS SOON AS YOUR APPLICATION IS COMPLETED AND REQUIRED DOCUMENTS ARE RECEIVED.
Plan on attending this mandatory assessment for one full day.
You will be scheduled for one full day (8am - 4:30pm) at the training school after our next apprenticeship deadline information is released. Physical assessment is a mandatory step in the application process and can’t be skipped. If you’re a rural applicant (off-road system), please give us a call to discuss.
What can you expect?
Orientation - Introduction of the Laborers Apprenticeship Program
Trench Exercise - You will show that you have endurance and good attitude while performing a physical exercise of digging a trench in our indoor shop along other applicants.
CMU Block Exercise - You will show that you have endurance and good attitude while performing a physical exercise of moving a palette go CMU blocks and stacking them in a specific pattern .
