The Alaska Laborers Training School is the sponsor of this federally registered apprenticeship program through the US Department of Labor and follows the guidelines provided in the Standards of Apprenticeship approved by DOL.
step 2 - physical assessment
Physical assessment is a crucial part of our process. Remember, construction workers work outside most of the time and no matter the field you’re in, you will be doing work that is physically demanding. Our physical assessment shows us that you are physically able to perform the duties of a Construction Craft Laborer in the field.
Physical Assessment IS An 8-Hour Day AT ONE OF OUR SCHOOLS AND IS SCHEDULED after we begin application reviews after respective deadlines. EACH APPLICANT IS SCHEDULED FOR AN INTERVIEW AFTER COMPLETION OF THE ASSESSMENT.
You will be scheduled for one full day (8am - 4:30pm) at the training school. Physical assessment is a mandatory step in the application process and can’t be skipped. If you’re a rural applicant (off-road system), please give us a call to discuss.
What can you expect?
Orientation - Introduction of the Laborers Apprenticeship Program
Physical Tasks - Several physical tasks both outside and inside will be assigned to each applicant. This day will help applicant understand our core values while in the field, such as good attitude, pacing oneself, and more.
step 4 - interview
After you have COMPLETED the physical assessment, you will be scheduled for an interview.
Interviews are about 30 minutes long and can be scheduled in person or online via Zoom. Interviews are conducted the following week after physical assessment.
Results of interviews will be communicated to each applicant within a week.
